Traffic Stops

If you are stopped by any police officer, please follow these simple requests:

  • Stay in your vehicle and wait for the officer to approach you. Exiting your vehicle doesn’t make the officer’s job easier; it makes it more dangerous. The officer must make sure both of you are out of traffic and safe.

  • When stopped, have your drivers license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance available for the officer.

  • Don’t argue with the officer on the street. If you disagree with the summons or the officer’s demeanor, contact the police chief or appear in court to voice your objections. An attorney is always recommended.
